If you are someone who loves to keep busy OR if you think and analyze a lot, you may need to slow down and pace yourself and give yourself space.
To get things done, we need to know what we want (have goals), be organized, have a good approach or a positive perspective, and be in the present.
Human beings tend to focus on either the past or the future and get stuck there with worries. And one small thing can compound or magnify other concerns and even cast a false light upon some things. It does this latter because you are looking through everything with the “lens” of worry or anxiety.
I am a multi-potentialite and have very many interests and things that I can do. But I have found out that this is one of my “superpowers”. While I have around 7 self-study courses “in the bank” still to complete, and I run lots of blogs and have many email addresses, I need to be aware of which are important and which I love the most.
Prioritizing and being super organized, e.g. by listing or tabling things you have to do, prioritizing them, and ticking them off as you complete them if you do, can lead to increased productivity and satisfaction in knowing where you are.
Pinpointing or gathering resources in an orderly easily accessible fashion is also another way to help you pace yourself, whether these resources be webpages that you bookmark or put in one document, or an organized library of physical books, or just keeping your house uncluttered and in order.
Keeping a diary of activities completed or of things to do can help ease the anxieties of memory not telling you what you want when you want, and can assist with planning.
The point is that you are a physical being as well as a spiritual being and need to give yourself time and space to slow down and enjoy life. Your happiness comes from accomplishing things and from doing or having pleasurable things.
The latter comes from being consciously aligned with who you really are, because if you BE YOURSELF, then naturally you are in a good position to manage what you do best, in order to achieve your goals.
If you are so busy that you often run on autopilot, something will eventually “give”. Something will come to the surface showing you that you are not happy or satisfied and you will question yourself “Why am I doing this?”
For example, are you burying yourself in busyness, to avoid processing unwanted emotions? If yes, then you may need to look at your limiting beliefs and change them to supportive beliefs and/or to learn not to stay overwhelmed.
You need to face your feelings and work toward refining your coping strategies.
If you block out periods of time for things, or plan and stick to schedules, and stop feeling obligated to always be doing something constructive, then you can breathe and get things done. Flexibility is required also because things can change.
They say that “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” I used to feel something breathing down the back of my neck, metaphorically speaking, most of the time, until I made the effort to get to know myself and to remove self-doubt, and to start loving myself.
Be brave enough to really love yourself enough to put yourself out in public where and when it will help you grow, and to slow down when you need to.
Acknowledge time-related anxieties and banish them by believing in yourself and being organized, while realizing that “time” is a human-made construct. I think that time is not as “linear” as many think.
To me, “time” is made up of moments of experiences, connected to form a subjective experience. Thus we should make the most of every moment. This approach will give you the motivation to do your best and to remind you that you are a worthy person.
Slow down to enjoy or be satisfied with and appreciate the present moment. Slow down to be you and to love you! Doing too much will cause “burn-out” or mental, spiritual, and physical fatigue.
Trust your intuition and believe that Source or God is helping you. And always be aware that your life is meant to be enjoyed, which you can’t do if you are rushing.
Balance your Life by doing “just enough.”
Slow Down To Smell The Roses
Love this Celine and so needed the reminder as was slightly starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with work today so your article came at just the right time. Remember we can do anything but not everything at once. So do your 7 courses but not all at the same time.
